7. Jazz Deconstructed: Jazz and the Voice Ashley "Say Wut" Moyer and Kenn Rodriguez
in Live Music

Ashley Moyer, aka Say Wut?!, has been a fixture in the local hip hop scene, and is known for her unique talent of beatboxing (producing sounds and beats through her mouth). Ashley's performances and workshops are directed towards community awareness and development through education and acceptance of alternative music outlets. An award-winning journalist, educator, performer and writer, Kenn Rodríguez has been called “one of the most honest, down-to-earth performance poets in the region, if not the nation”. His one-man show, “Rock ‘n’ Roll is Dead”, is a journey through thought, sound and time, a dissection of the music of the 80’s and 90’s driven by the ideas and thoughts of a young man raised with Music Television moving into a post-Cold War world using performance poetry, and spoken word integrated with music.

An Omega set will always include many original tunes, remixes, edits, and mashes, with a heavy emphasis on live improvisation and manipulation. His energy and stage presence, combined with his monster tunes, inevitably whip a crowd into a frenzy of bassed out bliss.
With LOCAL FAVORITES:
10pm-11pm: BRIAN BOTKILLER
Brian Botkiller is and electronic musician, promoter, producer and performer from Albuquerque, NM. Born and raised in the arts and music scene, brian’s sound is like nothing you’d expect from most electronic musicians. A multi-multi-instrumentalist playing and programming drums, keyboards, synths, bass and vocals, brian works to bring an exciting edge to live electronic music. Brian’s sound is like that of electronic dance legends Underworld tossed in a blender with Miles Davis, KMFDM and the punk rock sensibility of the Talking Heads. Top off with a bit of live art-jam visual projections and propaganda and you have a concoction to get a room moving. Will it blend? Oh yes, it will. He’s been voted best in New Mexico at what he does, and has worked with some of the biggest names in underground electronic music, including En Esch (Slick Idiot, ex-KMFDM frontman). His 2010 CD release, “Welcome to Postwar USA”, explores techno, chiptune, and progressive house with a dash of political satire. This is Intelligent Dance Music for the true faithful; more real than anything on the radio, and more fun than any average band. Hear the future, now.
9pm-10pm: DISTANT EFFECT
Distant Effect, is known for his energetic sets and showmanship. Always on the leading edge of dance music while either in the studio or front of a massed crowd going insane. Distant Effect is becoming a very well known name across the US, and gaining more momentum every show. With a drive of change in electronic dance music becoming more wanted, he is already in the know for what is new. Whether it be hard electro, tech-dance, dubstep, trance or hard dance, Distant Effect has stepped into all genres' for a devastating reach into the realm of dance.
